To save and rebuild men’s lives that would otherwise be lost in the mental health crisis.
Our aim is to provide an early intervention service that not only works with all agencies and services in our community, but actively channels men to our network before reaching crisis point. We can then plan a journey with more positive outcomes for each of them. Ultimately we have a vision of better outcomes for all.
A kinder world where men do not feel isolated to the point of despair.
JourneyMEN Wirral have been in conversation and discussion with many of the boroughs agencies and strive to deliver a seamless new service with clearly defined objectives. Within our team we have experience of men’s mental health and the difficult road to recovery.
Our key objectives are;
When designing services within our sector, it is important to understand that a “one size fits all “approach is not the way forward. Mental Health often declines for many different reasons. This could be life events, bereavement, relationship breakdown, low self-esteem, the list is endless. At JourneyMEN Wirral, we believe in a one to one approach, which will often start with a registration and needs assessment. This is done in a relaxed manner, with understanding and empathy. We do not add to our clients’ anxiety with unnecessary form filling or complicated questionnaires.
Following our initial findings, we may become your signposting service where we can direct you to the most appropriate and relevant professional organization for your journey. In many cases we can offer One to One counselling with professionals who are trained and specialize in counseling the complex issues of Men’s mental health.
We will work with you in the development of your own personal ‘journey plan’ that overtime will improve your wellbeing, reduce anxieties and achieve many other positive outcomes that lead to managing the negative effects of low mood. Our services will cut waiting times for counselling, will deliver the right service provider for each individual and we promise fast dependable support to all of our clients that ensures earlier positive outcomes.
Working with all of the agencies and emergency services our clients may be referred from;
In addition to the above we can also provide a Limited walk-in service for men already experiencing a crisis, for which they are unable to cope, whilst living within our local community.
We have extensive facilities that assist in the overall wellbeing of our clients. Our offices have relaxed rooms for counselling and our services also include training and recreational activities, including use of a narrowboat for cruises on the Shropshire Union Canal and also Mersey Canal, for which we can also provide training to crew the narrowboat.
Recreational activities are so often key in our men’s wellbeing and we are collaborating with a number of community organisations like Wirral Environment Network and Tranmere Rovers for walking football, gardening, sea fishing and many other social activities.
